Lady Rams Finish 2007-08 Season With Strong Showing at Holiday Collegiate Classic

March 2, 2008

BESSEMER, AL - The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams bowling team ended the 2007-08 season on a high note with some stellar performances on day two of the Holiday Collegiate Classic. The Lady Rams opened the day with four straight losses, but ended the day with a dominant win over Fontbonne.

The Lady Rams faced some old foes as well as some new friends in their final meet of the season, taking on fellow Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference foes, Delaware State, Florida A&M, and South Carolina State. The team also faced a rather familiar foe facing the North Carolina Central Lady Eagles. The highlight of the day, however, turned out to be the team's win over Fontboon to end the meet.

The action was slow in the beginning for the Lady Rams as the team took an 830-554 loss to Delaware State to open the day. Things heated up when they took on Florida A&M Lady Rattlers, taking an 882-684 loss in the match. The team took a hard-fought close loss to North Carolina Central, falling to the Lady Eagles, 785-770 and posted a season high team score in a an 878-859 loss to South Carolina State. With scheduled match play done, the Lady Rams went on to play Fontbonne in a positional match to end the meet. The Lady Rams ended the day with a 704-630 win in the final competition of the season.

"We had some consistent play for the entire meet," WSSU head bowling coach Michael Jackson said following the final meet of the season. "It was an all-around good day for all the players."
