Lady Rams Heading to Tallahassee, FL to Take on Florida A&M

Feb. 28, 2008

GAME NOTES

TALLAHASSEE, FL - With less than a week left in their season, the Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (2-23) will look to spark a strong end to the 2007-08 season with a win at Florida A&M (11-15), Saturday afternoon. The win would give the Lady Rams a chance to get a bit of payback when they take on the Lady Rattlers who handed WSSU a 67-36 loss in Winston-Salem, NC earlier this season.

Saturday's game will be the first of the final three games of the season for the Lady Rams and will give the team a chance to close the season on a high note and snap a seven-game losing skid. The Lady Rams will need to turn up their scoring efforts in order to pull out the win with the team averaging 45.7 points per game. The team will need to step up their efforts to keep up with a FAMU team that is scoring nearly 70 points per game this season.

WSSU freshman guard Rene Rector will look give the team the offense that it needs as she has been one of the top offensive players of late. She has scored at least eight points in five of her last six games, including a 13-point effort at Coppin State. Most recently, Rector scored nine points in just 26 minutes of play against Norfolk State, Monday evening.

Across the court from the Lady Rams will be a well-balanced FAMU team that has five different players averaging at least eight points per game. The inside-outside tandem of FAMU senior guard Joslyn Jackson and junior forward Stephanie Foster leads the way for the squad. Currently, Foster leads the Lady Rattlers in scoring averaging 13.4 points per game while Jackson adds 12.6 points per game this season. She is one of five FAMU players averaging at least eight points per game.

The Lady Rams and Lady Rattlers are set for a 2:00 p.m. tip-off at Gaither Gymnasium in Tallahassee, FL Saturday.
