Rams, Lady Rams Looking For Great Performances at 2008 Duke Asics Invitational

DURHAM, NC - Friday afternoon will be an exciting one for the Winston-Salem State Rams and Lady Rams track & field teams as both squads will take part in the 2008 Duke Asics Invitational Meet in Wallace Wade Stadium in Durham, NC. The Rams and Lady Rams will have a number of challenges to face this weekend both on and off the track.

 

In addition to the 1,900 athletes that the two teams will face, the two teams may have to outrun Mother Nature with a 50% chance of rain being forecast for the Durham area tomorrow.

 

Only three Lady Rams are scheduled to compete Friday. Freshman Allegra Seegars will get things started for the Lady Rams when she lines up for the women's 400m dash at 12:45 p.m. Junior Malliron Hodge and freshman Persha Lane will both also line up for the women's 400m hurdles at 4:10 p.m.

 

The Rams will have six athletes in action with junior Nathan Summerville getting things started in the men's high jump at noon. Sophomores Sadat Kahin and James Legins, III will line up for the men's 400m at the same time. Another pair of Rams will line up for the men's 200m dash just over an hour later. WSSU freshmen Aaron Licourt and Ja'Eric Shoffner will get a 1:10 p.m. start in the event against some of the toughest competition in the southeast. Rounding out the event for the Rams will be junior Jordan Holley, who will take part in the men's 400m hurdles.

 

Members of both the Rams and Lady Rams will be in action on Saturday as the two teams will complete the event on Saturday.
