WSSU Golfers Turn In Impressive Showing; Scorecard Mistakes Prove Costly

SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Winston-Salem State University men's golf team turned in what proved to be their most impressive team showing since the re-instatement of the golf program five years ago as they concluded final round action of the Savannah State University Fall Golf Classic at Henderson Golf Club in Savannah, Georgia with a team total of 321 en route to a two-day total of 335 and a fifth-place finish. The Rams' Jerell Fields tallied a final-round 76 en route to individual medalist honors with a tournament total of 148, however, scoring errors would spell doom for the Rams as the teams' efforts would go unrecognized. Story.

Jerell Fields led the Rams with a round of 72; Fields leads the individual medalist portion of the 14-team field.

WSSU Golfers Sit In Second Place At Savannah State Fall Invitational

SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Winston-Salem State University men's golf team sits in second place following the conclusion of round one action of the Savannah State University Fall Golf Classic at Henderson Golf Club in Savannah, Georgia as the Rams turned in a team-total of 314 to close the day in second place, eight strokes behind field-leading Florida A&M University in the 14-team tournament. WSSU Golfers Close Out Bethune-Cookman Fall Classic In 9th Place

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Winston-Salem State University men's golf team posted a final-round 307 on Sunday afternoon, 15 strokes better than Saturday's 322, en route to an aggregate team total of 629, good enough to earn the Rams a ninth-place finish at the 2008 Bethune-Cookman University Fall Golf Classic from Indigo Hills Country Club in Daytona Beach, Fla. Story.
